"What is wrong with these kids today?” A common phrase typically stated by people who are frustrated with the apparent lack of values expressed by teenagers today. There are many factors leading to this phenomenon.
lack of communication with parents-Parents nowadays are so busy with their work that they unknowingly neglect their children. The teenagers therefore will feel dejected and turn astray, hoping to get their parents' attention as well as initiating they have no control over them. On the contrary, some parents are too strict with their children, not giving them privacy. The child will then behave as badly as he wants outside of school and eventually develop attitude problems.
Peer pressure-Nowadays, more and more teenagers are succumbing to peer-pressure. For example, if all of his friends are wearing ankle-socks and he is not, he will be made fun of and will also feel that he is the odd one out. Thus, he will also changed himself to suit his friends.
Wants attention-Teenagers today are typically talking back to teachers in class, or they commit wrongdoings in front of everybody. They do these mainly because they want to "act cool" or to show everybody that he is brave, doing things which others do not have the guts to.
They often do not realize that people are not fascinated by their "bravery", but instead, disgusted. I seriously hope that teenagers can show their bravery through not succumbing to peer-pressure. The values installed in us should be put to use.
