Teenagers nowadays are much more badly behaved than compared to the past . One reason might be that nowadays much more families have parents which are both working , & either hire a maid or leave their child to its own devices .
While it may not be bad to give teenagers some independence , over-doing it may result in willfulness of the teenager & make them think that their parents have no control over them , and that they can do whatever they want to . It may also result in them thinking that their parents don't care for them & therefore neglects them .
However , some parents are also too controlling , like cooping up their child at home all day & not being allowed to go out even for project work . Over time , teenagers might find it too overwhelming & break down . Some might even turn to cutting & locking themselves in their room as a form of solace .
Peer pressure is also an important factor in leading a teenager astray . Some teenagers want to fit it with their group of friends , & thus consent to do whatever their friends want them to do , or follow the trends their friends are setting , including illegal things like smoking & taking drugs .
Some teenagers , wanting to gain recognition & their friends' attention , do things that might be dangerous to themselves & the public . I feel that more importance should be placed in instilling values such as respect , responsibility , reflective , resilience & repentance starting from a young age so young children will not make mistakes .
