My views Teenagers nowadays are behaving wild and much worse than the past. More parents are giving up on them and declared that they cannot control their children who are below the age 16. These are cases of’ Beyond Parental Control’. There are a few reasons leading to this problem: 1. Peer Influence Some teens joined gangs because their good friends are in it and were coaxed to enter the gang. Then, they were convinced or being challenged that taking drugs and doing other bad activities are cool. After a period of time, they will feel that they cannot kick the habit and even desire to do more. Soon, they will defy their parents. 2. Lack of Parent supervision If their parents are at work or overseas, they will not have time for their children. Less time means that they do not have enough time to understand the needs and feelings of the children. This will arise unnecessary misunderstandings and problems. The children will feel neglected and start to think that their parents do not love them. They will start doing things to try to get their attention such as smoking or join gangs. 3. Trying to follow the fashion trend Some teenagers are actually not bad and it is the fashion sense that drives them to do those activities. For example, if the most of the girls in the class wear ‘mini’ and short skirts and tucked out blouses; the other girls who do not dress like that, they will feel they are outdated and try to be fashionable by wearing ‘mini’ and short skirts and tucked out blouses. I had experienced before in real life, of course in school. In my class, most of the girls wore short skirts and ankle socks. There are only a handful of girls who dressed ‘properly’ including me. I was like somehow ‘nerd’ with that proper attire. My friends even asked me to pull down my socks. I felt dismayed. To me, it was just nice for me. At that point of time, thoughts rushed through my mind. Am I really foolish to dress like this? Should I be like them? After much deliberation, I felt that the main priority the students should focus is study hard but not dressing up. I have also seen girls who dressed up themselves too much that they looked like clowns and disgracing themselves. So are boys. Being a teenager, I understand the needs of a teenager. So just spend more time on communicating with your parents and friends to avoid the unnecessary problems from arising.
