I often see teenagers in their school uniform hanging around in public places like shopping malls, void decks, parks, etc after school hours. In the mrt, groups of teenagers are always sitting on the floor, chatting away happily without noticing that their noise level is getting higher and that they are taking up a lot of the space. Sometimes, commuters stare at them but they take no notice of it. Or, you might see them turning to their gang and seem to tell them something and then, the whole gang starts laughing while they stare back at you. Also, they tuck out their uniform and girls wear mini skirts. They don't realise that they are damaging their school's reputation by their actions.
Vulgarities are especially common nowadays and they are becoming part of a teenager's life. They use it at the slightest matter that has happened. One example is when a teacher gives them a lot of homework. However, sometimes the problem does not lie with the teenager alone. Their parents at home might be the ones guilty of it. Well. Parents do use vulgarities. Of course, not all parents. Teenagers also learn from some television programmes.
The reason for all these might be that both their parents are busy at work. In other words, the parents might be neglecting their kids resulting in the teenagers misconception. They might feel that they are not getting any family warmth and love. And so, what's the point of being part of the family? They rather mix with their gang, where at least they can feel contented and happy. That's why, most teenagers spend most of their time with friends or on the computer. There is also a same level of thinking when with their friends.
Another reason might be because of family problems. Teenagers whose parents are in the midst of filing for a divorce or who's parents quarrel practically every minute. They might feel helpless, not knowing what to do. It results in sliting, smoking, etc. Some may think that sliting would take away all their pain. Therefore, parents should try their best in cultivating good habits in their kids from young.
